Ang CEBU(Cebuano: Sugbo) is a province in the Philippines, consisting of Cebu Island and 167 surrounding islands. It is located to the east of Negros, to the west of Leyte and Bohol islands. Cebu is a long narrow island stretching 225 kilometers from north to south, surrounded by 167 neighbouring, smaller islands, which include Mactan, Bantayan, Malapascua, Olango and the Camotes Islands. Cebu has narrow coastlines, limestone plateaus and coastal plains. It also has rolling hills and rugged mountain ranges traversing the northern and southern lengths of the island. Cebu's highest mountains are over 1000 meters high. Flat tracts of land can be found in the towns of Bogo, San Remigio, Medellin and Daanbantayan at the northern region of the province. Its capital is Cebu City, the oldest city in the Philippines which forms part of the Cebu Metropolitan Area together with four neighboring cities which includeDanao City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City and Talisay City and eight other municipalities. Mactan-Cebu International Airport, located in Mactan island, is the second busiest airport in the Philippines. Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines, with Cebu City as the main center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the Visayas. The United Kingdom based Condé Nast Traveler Magazine named Cebu the seventh best island destination in the Indian Ocean-Asia region in 2007,eighth best Asian-Pacific island destination in 2005, seventh in 2004 and in 2009.
When I arrive at the PIER, I wasn’t yet amused by certain new views and sights.Even inside the Bus,driving to the city streets, I hadn’t yet fascinated by the new City I had got in. Perhaps because of the company of my classmates.I pretended not to be amused by the inescapable views that should be noticed. Being a native from Cagayan, you still had that pride of being not to be well astonished by the new city. Well, honestly there wasn’t any interesting view yet as I gazed outside the Bus window;not until we crossed the Mactan bridge. This is not the old one but the new Mactan bridge.
The new Mactan bridge was so huge that it reminded me of the Bridges of Madison County. Oops. No, just kidding. I mean, it reminded me of the bridges I saw in HBO movies. This was really something, I thought. The Marcos bridge in Cagayan, of course, is way too far from the bridge we crossed.
In my learning insight sa amo tour ang CEBU is a small city with big shopping and travel ground. Cebu is what you get when you mix the people’s simplicity and city’s advanced standard of living.Well it’s not hard to claim that Cebu is a first-class city. Cebu is second to the country’s center of business, Makati. Cebu is a developed city that doesn’t depend on Manila’s trade and commerce. Cebu has its own independent trading. Not to mention the two Mactan Economic Pacific Zones, Cebu has lots to deal in terms of business from their harbors.
When I was in Cebu I would imagine that im in Cagayan. Well,I believe many things have changed. I know I’ll get there and be a part of their lifestyle and culture. Cagayan’s culture, okie back in my tour destination .
After our siesta our next destination is the
Taoist Temple.Taoist Temple is Located in the wealthy residential suburb of Beverly Hills about 6 km north of downtown Cebu is an enormous Taoist Temple. It was built by Cebu's substantial Chinese community (the Chinese make up about 15% of Cebu's population). The temple is the a center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tze. You can see Taoist devotees following their rituals on Wednesdays and Sundays, as they climb the 99 steps of the temple to light joss sticks and have their fortunes read by the monks.
Built in 1972, the Taoist Temple is constructed in a highly ornate and, some would say, gaudy style of Chinese architecture, and is topped with a pagoda-style roof.
The temple has an elevation of 300 meters above sea level, and if you climb the 99 steps to the entrance, you will be rewarded with a good view of Cebu City and in the distance Mactan and Bohol islands. Nice sunset views too.

After Taoist Temple ni agto mi sa Magellan's cross. Magellan's cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese, and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebuin the Philippines on April 8, 1521.This cross is housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street (Magallanes being the Spanish name of Magellan), just in front of the city hall of Cebu City. A sign below the cross describes the original cross is encased inside the wooden cross that is found in the center of the chapel. This is to protect the original cross from people who chipped away parts of the cross for souvenir purposes or in the belief that the cross possesses miraculous powers. Some people, however, believe that the original cross had been destroyed or had disappeared after Magellan's death, and the cross is a replica that was planted there by the Spaniards after they successfully colonized the Philippines.Magellan's Cross is a symbol of Cebu, and the chapel's image can be found in its city seal. It is also seen as the symbol of Roman Catholicism in the Philippines.
